Please allow me to introduce myself
Please allow me to introduce myself….. I personally started singing in my head Sympathy for the Devil, but that is typically what I do. But in reality, I am using my 1st Blog Post as a way to introduce myself and the reason I am creating my own business.
First off I actually work a job I enjoy. I currently work in Managed Care. I love problem solving, doing assessment and work with others to get our clients to reach a goal. I have been doing this job for the last 12 years. During this 12 years I have had an incredible and caring supervisor, I have had a great group of co-workers and actually work in a supportive environment that does want to see you progress. The downsides? The pandemic has changed my job. I am now doing things that I feel my clinical skills are not being challenged, I am starting to be told to continue to work because we are short staffed and I also miss the client interactions that I have not had while working this job.
I have worked 2 jobs just to have the client interactions. The job its self, is not a bad paying job. Am I making millions and taking vacations to Bali yearly? No but, I’m not working community mental health ( I have done this before also) where I was working 60 hours a week and usually still trying to find ways to enjoy life, maybe enjoy time with friends and paying my bills. So with my therapy jobs I have worked extensively in truama, from Half Way houses, working in mental health Community Mental Health and also doing contract work where I would work with individuals that were on federal probation.
During my whole career, I have had positive interactions and focused on what I liked about the job. I also have had negative interactions where I would definitely change that if I was running this practice. So with all my experiences, I was thinking I would love to try to run my practice and look at my passions. Its been a learning curve, I have taken an amazing supportive business course to help guide me for what is needed to run a therapy business. I have spoke to experts and also have been learning how I can succeed. I also am coming up with new ideas and learning new therapy practice that include Cognitive Processing Theory, and EDMR to better support my clients. The bumps along the way have been helpful to learn who I am and who I want to be. My goal is to be there for you, we can learn and grow together and help how we can both better improve ourselves.
In my spare time, you will usually find me working out. I enjoy going to the gym just to relax. Paddleboarding! Love do this and I’m very fortunate that I grew up on a lake that I visit often to paddleboard. I also hang out with my 2 cats Sansa and Boo- Berry. Trust me they might join me for work some day although they make the worst co workers usually trying to show off to others. If you see me just randomly dancing its just because there is an amazing song going on.
